Create Linked Work in Planning Builder

Select design nodes in Builder to create planning items with references back to their sources.

Turn design nodes into linked planning work

Planning Builder creates new planning items from selected source nodes. It keeps each item separate from its architecture source and records a link back to that source; it does not convert the source node into a planning item.

  1. Open Planning, then choose the Builder tab. Builder lists eligible architecture and flow source nodes; use Unplanned only to narrow the list if needed.
  2. Select one or more source-node rows. Choose Individual Stories to create a story per selected node, or Epic + Stories to create an epic and related stories.
  3. Choose the priority and, if useful, story points. Use the Create Epic + … Stories or Create … Stories button at the bottom of the Builder to create the items.
  4. Open a created item and review Design references. Select a listed source to navigate back to that source in Unified.

The planning items are new branch objects linked to their source nodes, not alternate views of those same nodes. In a planning item's detail page, use Dependencies → + Add Dependency to connect it to other planning items. To change an item's status, use the Status control in Planning's Table view.
